Understanding Taormina...

We live in Taormina since we were born and these informations will help you to better understand the structure of our lovely town...

First of all you have to know that the the centre of Taormina is not near the sea.  The town is on a hill and the sea can be reached or by car or by the funicular.  Of course, especially in summer, to take the car to reach the beaches can be very stressing because of the heat, traffic and so on.  Therefore, the best way to reach the sea is the funicular which costs 3,50 eur/person - you can anyway reduce this cost with a weekly payment.

Now, before you decide if you prefer to be near the sea or near the town centre, you must consider that the sea is nice in the day but there are no amusements in the evening...  the town centre is better in the evening with its shops, restaurants bars, main street and so on... 

You have to consider that being near the sea, if you want to be late in the evening, you must take the funicular to reach your apartment, viceversa being in town you can go to the beach in the day and enjoy Taormina in the evening without stressing on taking the cablecar when is very late.

PARKING:

there are very few apartments which provide parking...  taormina has its main parking at the entrance of the town from where a small bus (free of charge) takes you in the centre in only 2 minutes...
